Board Certified Reproductive Endocrinologists

A Board Certified Reproductive Endocrinologist needs to accomplish the
following:

  1. The physician must prove competence and certification in OB/GYN

  2. The physician must undergo two to three years of training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility in a board approved program. The physician must also be approved by the board of OB/GYN.

  3. A thesis of original research published in a peer review journal must be
    accomplished.

  4. Training should encompass proficiency in the following:
    • Medical statistics
    • Laboratory Techniques in endocrinology
    • In Vitro Fertilization and all associated aspects such as ICSI, PGD and
      Assisted Hatching.
    • Training to be a laboratory director is recommended. This training would include IVF, andrology and endocrinology.
    • Knowledge of general medical endocrinology is needed.

  5. A written and oral exam with the board of reproductive endocrinology is taken and the physician must have a list of complex reproductive endocrinology patients he has cared for.
