| Board Certified Reproductive Endocrinologists
A Board Certified Reproductive Endocrinologist needs to accomplish the
following:
- The physician must prove competence and certification in OB/GYN
- The physician must undergo two to three years of training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility in a board approved program. The physician must also be approved by the board of OB/GYN.
- A thesis of original research published in a peer review journal must be
accomplished.
- Training should encompass proficiency in the following:
- Medical statistics
- Laboratory Techniques in endocrinology
- In Vitro Fertilization and all associated aspects such as ICSI, PGD and
Assisted Hatching.
- Training to be a laboratory director is recommended. This training would include IVF, andrology and endocrinology.
- Knowledge of general medical endocrinology is needed.
- A written and oral exam with the board of reproductive endocrinology is taken and the physician must have a list of complex reproductive endocrinology patients he has cared for.
