GETTING STARTED: WHEN TO SEE A FERTILITY SPECIALIST

It may seem like you have been trying a long time to have a baby. Determining when it is the right time for you to see a reproductive endocrinologist or fertility specialist can be a confusing decision.
RSI’s board-certified reproductive endocrinologists (or fertility specialists) optimize your chance of starting a family. Our physicians have completed extensive education, fellowship programs, and specialized exams. Their expertise contributes to our impressive success rates and ongoing patient satisfaction.
If you or your partner has experienced any of the following, it is most likely time to seek the guidance of a fertility specialist.
- If a couple (under the age of 35) has had regular, unprotected intercourse for twelve months without conceiving
- If a couple (over the age of 35) has had regular, unprotected intercourse for six months without conceiving
- A woman has had three or more miscarriages
- A woman who ovulates irregularly and hasn’t responded to previous drug treatment
- A man’s semen analysis has shown a low sperm count or poor mobility
- A woman has moderate or severe endometriosis (at any age)
- A couple has unexplained fertility (meaning their test results were “normal” and they are still unable to conceive)
- A couple is considering assisted reproductive technologies such as in-vitro fertilization (IVF), artificial insemination, or gender selection
